Trump Administration Gives Court Orders Their Own Airport Departure Board
The new Judicial Compliance Terminal promises every injunction a gate assignment, a boarding group, and no guarantee it will leave on time.

WASHINGTON—Following arguments over whether a federal judge may continue investigating the administration’s handling of deportation flights, the Trump administration on Tuesday unveiled the Judicial Compliance Terminal, a climate-controlled annex where court orders can be weighed, tagged, delayed, and redirected through a secure government air-travel experience.
The facility, located somewhere between the Justice Department loading dock and a Cinnabon that closed during the first Trump term, will receive injunctions from federal courts and place them on a large departure board. Orders deemed immediately inconvenient will appear under the status AWAITING EXECUTIVE WEATHER CLEARANCE. Others will be routed through Gate 14, where a rotating team of attorneys will explain that the order is technically still being respected because nobody has physically thrown it away.
Officials said the terminal solves a long-running problem in which judges issue instructions using phrases such as “halt,” “turn around,” and “by no later than 7 p.m.,” without first checking whether those instructions qualify for priority boarding. Each order will now be measured against a standard carry-on sizer shaped like Article II of the Constitution. Anything that does not fit will be checked beneath the aircraft and returned to the issuing court within six to eight fiscal quarters.
The system encountered an early complication when an order arrived while a government action was already underway. Staff initially placed the document in the “lost baggage” office, but it was later moved to the new Interbranch Reaccommodation Desk after officials determined it had not been lost so much as “in active disagreement with its destination.” A laminated placard now advises employees not to describe an order as ignored until it has completed at least one full lap around the baggage carousel.
To improve morale, administration lawyers will earn Judicial Loyalty Miles for every order successfully rebooked onto a later legal theory. Ten thousand miles can be redeemed for a complimentary hearing in which three appellate judges ask whether the entire terminal should exist. Platinum members receive access to the Quiet Constitution Lounge, where staff may enjoy complimentary bottled water and watch a muted livestream of oral arguments while a concierge stamps each document “SUBJECT TO FURTHER REVIEW.”
At the terminal’s ribbon-cutting, an official assured reporters that no court order would ever be denied boarding. “Every order will reach its final destination,” the official said, standing beneath a departure board that had just changed the status of IMMEDIATE COMPLIANCE to NOW BOARDING AT A DIFFERENT AIRPORT.
