JD Vance Gives Every Republican a Fresh Hello My Name Is Badge
The vice president says the party’s new voter-introduction program will allow officials to meet America for the first time again.

Vice President JD Vance on Monday introduced a new Republican midterm strategy centered on giving every elected official a fresh fluorescent name badge reading, “HELLO, MY NAME IS,” followed by a blank line large enough to conceal several years of prior familiarity.
The initiative, called First Time Meeting America, follows Vance’s appeal for voters to give Republicans “another chance.” Under the program, senators, Cabinet officials, governors, and assorted men standing near oversized maps will arrive at campaign events through a side entrance marked NEW HIRE ORIENTATION.
“Sometimes a relationship needs a reset,” Vance said, standing beside a 14-foot roll of adhesive labels. “Sometimes the country simply needs to encounter the same people again under better lighting, with a lanyard.”
Each participant will receive a welcome folder containing a regional snack guide, a map of local kitchen tables, and a laminated card offering approved small-talk topics such as grocery prices, parking, and whether anyone has seen the nation’s stapler. Officials will be instructed not to mention previous meetings until the second quarter.
The rollout hit an early snag when the badge printer’s “title” field repeatedly filled itself with words including senator, secretary, chairman, and person who was already in charge. Campaign staff responded by replacing the field with a simpler prompt: “What brings you to government?”
According to an internal orientation schedule, Republicans will begin every rally by forming a loose semicircle and stating one interesting fact about themselves. Vance is slated to say he enjoys public service, has recently become interested in accountability, and is “excited to learn what this administration does.”
The program’s centerpiece is a federally styled badge scanner at the entrance to every event. When an official attempts to enter using an existing résumé, voting record, or television appearance, the machine emits a polite chime and prints a small receipt reading: “WELCOME BACK TO THE CONVERSATION. PLEASE DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS IF YOU JUST GOT HERE.”
By late afternoon, several senior Republicans had requested stickers reading “ASK ME ABOUT MY BOLD NEW APPROACH,” only to discover the phrase had been preprinted beneath every badge in type too small to remove.
Vance closed the launch by assuring donors that the operation was not an admission of anything, a clarification immediately followed by aides distributing complimentary tote bags labeled GOP: NOW WITH A CLEANER INTRODUCTION.
