Trump Administration Launches Argentina Rewards Program for $7 Billion
The new Milei Miles card lets Washington earn priority boarding on future barrels of oil.

The Trump administration on Thursday unveiled Milei Miles, a premium international rewards program under which the United States will extend up to $7 billion in loans to Argentina and receive priority access to the country’s oil, minerals and one complimentary airport-lounge bowl of mixed nuts per fiscal quarter.
Officials described the arrangement as a modern alternative to traditional foreign lending, which they said had become “too dependent on paperwork and insufficiently platinum.” Under the program, every dollar lent to President Javier Milei’s government earns Washington one point redeemable for crude oil, lithium, copper, or a slightly upgraded boarding group during any future geopolitical emergency.
“For too long, America has financed things without getting a little plastic card out of it,” said an administration official standing beside a six-foot chrome loyalty card bearing a tiny embossed oil derrick. “Now taxpayers can finally watch their government accumulate meaningful status.”
The launch immediately encountered an accounting complication when federal budget staff learned the points could not be redeemed until Argentina had completed an online portal requiring the user to select every traffic light containing a motorcycle. The portal also asks borrowers whether they are applying as an individual, a corporation, or “a sovereign nation with excellent vibes.”
To resolve the issue, the administration divided the loans into three reward tiers. The basic “Basalt” tier offers early access to mineral newsletters. “Shale Select” members may board a tanker before general international creditors. The top “Executive Mantle” tier includes a private conference-room chair near the energy map, plus one annual waiver of the phrase “subject to market conditions.”
Argentina’s oil and mining projects will continue to be evaluated through normal financial channels, officials said, except for a newly installed brass bell in the Treasury Department that rings whenever someone says “strategic partnership” near a barrel-shaped espresso machine.
The program’s first customer-service dispute emerged within minutes. A senator’s office asked whether points could be transferred to domestic gasoline consumers. A spokesperson said transfers were prohibited, though account holders could request a commemorative PDF showing a small animated pickup truck driving toward a lithium deposit.
At the ceremony’s close, Trump was presented with a ceremonial black card granting “unlimited access to the Southern Hemisphere,” subject to blackout dates, sanctions review, and the cardholder remembering the three-digit security code on the back of Patagonia.
