POLITICAL PARODYREAL EVENT. FICTIONAL ESCALATION.

Following a new Texas poll showing Democrat James Talarico narrowly ahead in the Senate race while Gov. Greg Abbott leads in the governor’s contest, the state’s polling industry has formally rezoned Texas as a mixed-use government property.

Under the preliminary site plan, Abbott’s gubernatorial operation will occupy the ground floor, with Talarico’s prospective Senate office placed in a federally compliant addition somewhere above it. A load-bearing wall marked IDEOLOGICAL SEPARATION—DO NOT LEAN will run through the middle of the rotunda, allowing voters to express two unrelated instincts without accidentally making eye contact with either one.

“The old model assumed Texans selected one governing mood per household,” said a consultant standing beside a foam-board blueprint of the state fitted with tiny brass mailboxes. “This survey indicates voters may prefer a Republican governor, a Democratic senator, lower grocery prices, stronger borders, reliable electricity and absolutely no follow-up questions. That is not a coalition. That is a zoning code.”

The Texas Secretary of State’s office has not adopted the plan, but campaign professionals have already begun assigning room numbers. Abbott’s team has reserved the Governor’s Suite, including the executive conference room and a long hallway suitable for announcing initiatives. Talarico’s campaign has requested access to the federal loading dock, where candidates may accept national attention in pallets of twelve.

The arrangement encountered an immediate complication when both campaigns sought use of the state’s central issue: the economy. A mediation panel ruled that inflation may be displayed in the lobby on alternating days, while immigration will remain in a climate-controlled atrium monitored by consultants carrying laminated expressions of concern.

Pollsters then discovered that undecided voters technically occupy the shared driveway. The group will be offered temporary visitor passes and asked not to park on any issue until further notice. Candidates may approach only after submitting a three-page curbside engagement request, proof of insurance and a tray of breakfast tacos that does not imply an endorsement.

To prevent future confusion, television networks will replace their election maps with a real-estate listing describing Texas as “a spacious 30-million-resident political duplex with strong curb appeal, divided utilities and one aggressively contested mailbox.”

Election Night coverage will conclude when a licensed inspector determines whether the state has passed code or simply needs another eight weeks of polling.
