Pentagon Converts Annual Checkups Into Testosterone Combine
Troops over 30 will reportedly receive draft cards, scouting notes, and a laminated ranking against everyone in their parking garage.

The Pentagon has announced that its mandatory testosterone screenings for male service members over 30 will now be conducted through the new Endocrine Readiness Combine, a quarterly athletic-medical spectacle in which troops report to a climate-controlled hangar, jog past a fog machine, and wait for a physician to read their hormone levels over a public-address system.
Under the program, each participant receives a black compression shirt, a disposable clipboard, and a provisional scouting grade ranging from “battle-ready” to “needs a second coffee.” Medical personnel will still collect samples in private, officials stressed, but the results will be unveiled by a retired defensive coordinator standing beside a seven-foot vertical-leap chart.
“The modern battlefield changes fast,” said a Pentagon official, speaking beneath a banner that read NOTHING PERSONAL, JUST BIOMETRICS. “A service member should know whether he is medically cleared, tactically prepared, and projected as a late second-round selection by the Joint Chiefs.”
The rollout encountered an immediate complication when commanders discovered that nearly every unit had begun submitting appeals for troops whose results were described as “intangibly gritty.” A new review board will now hear arguments from platoon sergeants, primary-care doctors, and one designated childhood friend who can attest that the service member “used to be absolutely different at 24.”
To prevent favoritism, the Pentagon said rankings will not affect promotions, assignments, health care, or any official personnel decision. They will instead be printed on a small card that troops must carry at all times, presented when borrowing a government vehicle, and shown to the attendant at base dry cleaners for “administrative continuity.”
Officials initially planned to keep the results within medical channels until a logistics contractor mistakenly ordered 480,000 velvet-draped podiums. Rather than cancel the purchase, the department will use the podiums for Friday reveal ceremonies, complete with walk-up music selected by the unit’s most recently promoted lieutenant colonel.
The final phase begins next month, when the Pentagon will install a glass-fronted “Warrior Performance Green Room” outside every clinic. Troops awaiting routine bloodwork will sit beneath studio lighting while an analyst explains why their numbers may have slipped during a difficult deployment, a demanding divorce, or a poorly timed bowl of base chili.
At the end of each combine, the top performer will ring a ceremonial brass bell and receive a challenge coin stamped with the words: “MEDICALLY NORMAL, OPERATIONALLY ELITE.”
