POLITICAL PARODYREAL EVENT. FICTIONAL ESCALATION.

Saudi Arabia has announced that all future fighter-jet purchases will include a thirty-day return policy, following Houthi footage claiming to show the wreckage of a Saudi F-15 in Yemen.

The new defense procurement addendum, titled Peace of Mind for Premium Air Superiority, allows the kingdom to return aircraft that arrive “materially different from their advertised operational aura.” Customers seeking a refund must submit the original receipt, a completed Aircraft Dissatisfaction Form, and at least one major component not currently distributed across multiple governorates.

“Our clients expect a luxury experience from ignition through controlled parking,” said a spokesman for the newly created Ministry of Consumer Aviation. “If an aircraft fails to remain in the air for the duration implied by the brochure, we believe the customer deserves options.”

Those options are limited. Jets damaged by weather, sand, unauthorized aerobatics, or “hostile interaction with locally manufactured objects” will qualify only for store credit. The credit may be redeemed toward a newer aircraft, an extended maintenance plan, or a complimentary hangar diffuser scented like executive confidence.

The policy initially alarmed defense contractors, who warned that combat aircraft cannot simply be returned to a service counter between a blender and a cordless vacuum. Saudi officials responded by constructing a climate-controlled Returns Pavilion beside a military runway, complete with numbered ticket kiosks, bottled water, and a velvet rope for senior officials whose aircraft require expedited disappointment.

The system encountered its first complication when several procurement officers attempted to return not individual planes but “the entire feeling of being adequately protected.” That request has been referred to a joint committee of lawyers, logistics specialists, and one man whose only job is to say “per the brochure” before every meeting.

Officials later clarified that the policy does not cover reputational damage, regional embarrassment, or footage uploaded in landscape orientation. Still, every new jet will now leave the factory with a laminated care card: avoid moisture, avoid extreme heat, and retain packaging in case the geopolitical environment proves unsuitable.

At press time, the ministry had denied rumors that the next delivery of aircraft would arrive bubble-wrapped, though it confirmed each pilot will receive a small roll of packing tape “for documentation purposes.”
